Pediatric 200 Credit Hour Certification 2015 - 2016
Last March I made a huge decision to add Pediatrics as a specialty under my Chiropractic degree. This program is not given through my school, but the seminars luckily are given on my campus. I have currently completed 2 Modules (Seminars) towards the 16 Modules total. I am excited to add a new certification on top of what I am currently doing because of how much I love being around and working with children! :)
The whole experience has given me a new drive towards the field and makes me more driven to make myself the absolute best for my future patients.
I also got to experience shadowing a Pediatric Chiropractor that I met on campus at UWS, Satya Sardonicus, DC. Initally I thought Satya was a student and was wrong :)
She was kind enough to have me out to her home office to learn from her what it's like to work in a home office, and also seeing her work with patients. Satya definitely helped me when I was deciding on whether I should pursue Pediatric Chiropractic for myself.
[Above Photo] Satya recommended this book to me, and I absolutely love it!

Module 1: Given by Jeanne Ohm went over the Webster Technique for adjusting Pregnant women. This course also gave an overview of the basic anatomy and function of the pelvis and uterus during pregnancy and the birthing process.
I have had so many new thoughts and feelings regarding any future children that I may have and what my approach would be during pregnancy. I will not allow ANY doctor to approach me with forceps, or even that suction thingy. I would die first! I am forming my own opinion on whether I, myself, would prefer home birth to one in a hospital. Natural birth (which doesn't occur in a hospital) has sounded way more appealing versus being given drugs, and having a baby's head being pulled on during the birthing process.
Birth should be natural - Mothers did used to need epidurals, or Cesareans WAYYY back when. Why do they now?
After this Seminar - I am completed the requirements for the Webster Certification which I will receive from the ICPA post graduation.
Module 2: Given by Armand Rossi went over the Essentials of Chiropractic Care for Children.
Module 2 answered so many questions that I have when I worked at Clear Choice as a CA, receptionist, etc.... regarding newborns, and children. I learned how to determine whether a child has intracranial pressure in their head and how to correct the problem and the side effects that these children could have because of it.
I was able to learn about the Occipital adjustments that can be performed on the babies - which are so gentle. I am so excited to learn more about this profession!
Dr. Rossi wanted to take group photos from our seminar: [See Below Photos]
I can't wait until the next seminar!!!!
These classes give the drive to start documenting what I would like to see in my future practice as well as exploring different information that we have available to us in order to learn more about Pediatrics, and Chiropractic!
